Double sided equals double the fun! Join this creative workshop where you’ll design your very own unique double-sided lampshade. Fabric on the inside and outside. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or a complete beginner, this class is perfect for anyone looking to add a unique touch to their home décor.
With double sided shades, you can opt to have colour and pattern inside and outside, or use a plain light coloured linen on the outside that allows the inside pattern to shine through when switched on. Subtle by day and bold by night.
We will be making a 30cm diameter x 22cm height shade. No sewing required.
Course Outline:
- Fabric selection and preparation
- Shade ring preparation
- Shade rolling
- Edge finishing
Learning Outcomes:
- How to make a professional double sided drum lampshade.
What to bring:
- 2 pieces of fabric. We recommend a bold and colourful fabric for the interior and a plain fabric for the exterior. But you can also be bold inside and out!
- Interior Fabric: Min 1m width x 35cm height of fabric for the interior of the shade. We love colour and pattern and encourage you to be bold. You can bring your own or choose from a selection on the day (this will be an additional cost of $15.00).
- Exterior Fabric: Min 1m width x 35cm height of fabric for the exterior of the shade. We love the effect of a plain, light fabric on the exterior as this allows the interior pattern to shine through when switched on. A lovely element of surprise. You can bring your own or choose from a selection on the day (this will be an additional cost of $15.00).
- Light to medium weight cotton, linen, or cotton/linen blend is best.
- Fabrics that are very thin, very thick, with very loose weave, or coarse/uneven texture are not suitable. No silk.
- If you want to make a twin so you can have bedside tables, or want to revamp some more lamps at home, we will have take home kits available to purchase on the day ($80.00).
