This practical course will teach the student effective strategies to develop their conceptual understanding of Stage 1 English. This program develops new communication skills in the student through a variety of skills and strategies needed to become a proficient and confident reader and writer at the stage 1 level. English coaching is individualised to cater for the educational needs of the students who wish to understand the fundamentals of oral and written communication. Professional qualified and experienced teachers help your child realise their full potential through formal instruction in small class settings. Classes include work booklets, initial, ongoing assessments and progress report.
Through coaching our students will be shown how to respond to familiar and unfamiliar texts and justify their interpretations of ideas, information and events using a range of skills and strategies. The student will be encouraged to integrate a range of skills and strategies efficiently when reading, interpreting, analysing and evaluating texts and visual images.
The students will be encouraged to develop and use simple and complex sentences, paragraphing, punctuation and grammatical features in all their written responses. Throughout the program students will be shown how to spell familiar and unfamiliar words using knowledge of letter–sound correspondence, regular and irregular spelling patterns, spelling rules and a range of other strategies.
The following content will be covered depending on the needs of the individual student:
use a variety of skills and strategies, including knowledge of text structure, context, grammar, punctuation, word usage and phonics, to understand the information in texts.
use basic grammatical features and conventions of punctuation correctly when writing their own texts
plan, proof read and edit their own writing
use knowledge of letter–sound correspondence, sight words and regular spelling patterns to accurately spell known words and an increasing number of irregularly spelt words.
Homework is given upon request.

After hours and weekends look for the Site Co-ordinator for room directions. Onsite Cafe open Monday to Friday 8:00am-3:00pm, Sat 8:30am – 1:30pm. Outside these hours there are drink/snack vending machines onsite.
