Do you love to sing? Would you like to improve your vocal confidence and ability? Then this singing workshop is for you. Whether singing for fun or you have more ambitious singing goals you will find the concepts in this workshop helpful to your vocal journey.
This beginner singing workshop dives into a few foundational vocal concepts to help improve singing ability and confidence in a fun, positive and encouraging environment. Singing is a healthy and fun form of self expression and it is even better when done in a healthy and sustainable way that does not cause struggle or discomfort. Workshop participants will gain a much better understanding of their vocal instrument and how to coordinate their body better to make singing even more enjoyable. They will also learn some exercises to improve their ability to sing better in tune and singing various musical intervals.
Participants are welcome to come prepared with a song they would like some practical feedback on to improve their singing but this is optional. (They can sing along with an artist recording or use a karaoke track on youtube). The workshop will also have group singing and there will be plenty of practicing of various vocal exercises which are designed to help improve vocal ability.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions about the exercises and concepts. This workshop is suitable for all levels but it will be especially beneficial for those with little or no voice training experience.
Course Outline:
Vocal Basics – the basic components of the vocal instrument.
Posture and breathing for singing
Vowels and resonance
Developing and balancing vocal registers
Common tensions and how to alleviate them
Applying basic techniques to songs
Interval singing practice
Applying technique to songs

About the Tutor:
'Luke has been a musician in various capacities for more than 30 years. In that time he has developed as a singer and instrumentalist in a variety of groups including wind ensembles, A symphony orchestra, rock and pop groups and his musical projects.
In 2009 Luke moved to Sydney to pursue the study of voice and from there he has been taught and mentored by Jeff Alani Stanfill a top NYC based vocal coach. Luke has been teaching voice privately for over 12 years and has worked with beginners through to professional singers with international and national singing contracts. Luke has also been teaching group singing courses at various colleges for over 7 years.
Luke has a passion to help singers unlock their vocal instrument and sing with more freedom no matter what level or what aspirations they have. His teaching motto is ‘excellence in vocal training’.'

To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.

Public Transport
From Jannali Station walk to the West side along Jannali railway (heading towards Sutherland), the fourth street on the right is Louise Street. Jannali Centre is at the end of Louise Street

After hours and weekends look for the Site Co-ordinator for room directions. Onsite Cafe open Monday to Friday 8:00am-3:00pm, Sat 8:30am – 1:30pm.
