Acrylic Painting in Blooms - Flowers

We will be using methods that will give you great results even if you’ve got no artistic training before or if you are a seasoned or emerging artist. We will cover different techniques, use variety of shades (gradation) and shape/sizes, have a focal point off centre, blending, learn colour-mix with delicious pale rose, orange, marble/tile mixing colours. Course Outline:
- Introduction: Important consideration to have in mind before starting your flower painting journey. Like lighting your workspace, characteristics of acrylic paints. Paint in detail and Paint in shapes. At the end use your own method
- Materials: Brushes, medium, canvas, (application of medium)
- Paint with alternative tools as brushes & train to handle pallet knife to get beautiful marks
- Colour mixing lessons and petal studies
- Combine painting and drawing on the canvas
- Mixing tones and impacts your ability to interpret and mix colour
- Mixing tones: create a board with various tones that will from the backbone of colour missing for flowers (cool and warm)
- Mixing colours: using limited palette
- Petal studies: individual and sketches to begin with a base layer before making slight colour modifications to gradually build realism
- Intro to painting Peonies, rose and blue flower
- Transferring the drawing
- Painting the Background – blending, shadow, light, learn impasto
- First Layer – centre / outer petals using soft blends to make brushstrokes invisible and add the realism
- Second Layer, which adjustments you like to make, and what do to if you make an unsuccessful adjustment – create volume
- Second layer – background and flower
- Finishing the flowers: calibrate to make it appear more lifelike. Important question to ask yourself – which adjustments to make
- Varnishing
Learning Outcomes:
- You will learn all about your materials, petal studies, canvas preparation, drawing transfer, medium and so much more!
- Solid foundation of how the mixing tones and colour mixing colours with reduce palette colours are so important as well the lighting and shadows
- Develop different types of painting flowers and be comfortable to develop your own painting method at the end
- This will give you a great toolkit of ideas and techniques to use in the future
