This level is acquired when a student can make a competent and flexible use of the language for social, academic and professional purposes and when they can produce clear, well-structured and detailed texts on topics of a certain complexity, showing a correct use of grammar, articulation and cohesion of the text. In this level, students know how to use colloquial language and expressions in the right context.

Course Outline:

• Readings from newspapers, magazines, children’s stories and literature.
• Values, beliefs and attitudes: professional groups, regional cultures, national identity, foreign countries, states and peoples, politics, arts, wealth, income and inheritance, humour.
• Debates on different topics.
• Watching videos and discussing about them.
• Conversation about different topics.
• Presentation by students, based on themes, such as national history, folklore, traditions, economy, politics and education.

Prerequisite:

• You need to have completed Spanish Level 8 to enrol in this class or demonstrate your relevant ‘level’ through a conversation with the tutor prior to enrolling.

Lourdes – Lourdes has been a tutor with SGSCC for over 20 years. She is a qualified Spanish teacher who keeps her skills up to date by attending different courses.
She has self-published her Spanish for Travellers book which is used in the travellers course she designed.

Her courses are very popular because of the variety of resources she uses. She is
proud of her loyal student base with many re-enrolling in her classes, term after term, year after year. She believes to have the best job in the world because it allows her not only to impart the knowledge of her native language, but also to instill an interest for her culture.

Luis – With over 20 years of teaching Spanish, I’ve had the joy of helping students of all ages develop a love for the language and its culture. I enjoy offering a variety of courses that cater to all levels, and I’m always happy to see many students come back each term. My goal is not only to share the beauty of Spanish but also to encourage an appreciation for the culture that comes with it.
