Painting Frida Kahlo in Acrylics and Collage - New!
In the first hour we will sketch, learn bases and tricks to draw a portrait, then we will go through all of the different techniques on how to mix colours, how to create texture, but also how to work in collage mixed with painting. By using those two different techniques you will be able to experiment endless combinations of collage/brushstrokes to express yourself at your own taste.
This class is designed to discover and enjoy creativity in a relaxed and fun environment alone or as a group and totally supported by a teacher that is knowledge and passionate. This workshop is designed to have fun while learning new skills. There are no expectations just enjoyment. You will leave feeling refreshed and reset, carrying your own work of art and a smile on your face … looking forward to coming back again for another artclass!
Course Outline:
- Introduction to acrylic paints and collage technics
- Sketching portrait and understand drawing composition
- Applying, creating textures, combining collages and painting, understanding rules of a successful portrait and how to navigate through paint and PVA glue with paper cuttings
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn basics of acrylic paints and collages with paper cuttings
- Develop skills in painting a portrait and floral, texiles prints drawing and painting
- Understand how to successfully combine facial details, flowers, background painting and clothing prints
- Create a pleasing portrait of the famous artist Frida Kahlo
- Embracing painting as a new hobby and being inspired

About the tutor:
'French native, I have studied art for many years in France, London and Australia. I, Valerie, am currently a student at the National Art School in Darlinghurst. So far, I have been teaching at the college SGSCC for nearly 10 years, which has given me the honour to share, care and inspire all ages and different abilities of students. Art is such a healthy way to relax and reset your mind. The more you create the more you get creative – such a wonderful way to balance the daily whistle and blows of life.
