Pop Up Camera Workshop North Cronulla
In this unique and comprehensive camera and Photography workshop, set amongst the beautiful Pacific Ocean, along Cronulla’s famous Esplanade, along North Cronulla Beach, you will get to know and how to adjust your Digital camera properly, this includes any Digital camera, whether it is; A Digital compact camera / Advanced compact camera / Bridge camera / Superzoom camera or a digital interchangeable lens camera i.e; an Optical – Digital Single Lens Reflex known as a DSLR (see through the actual lens) or Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera known as a DSLM, (see through an electronic viewfinder EVF).
This comprehensive Workshop includes an introduction to the fundamentals of Photography; Focusing, shutter speeds, aperture-depth of field and composition, all of which are the cornerstone of taking brilliant memorable photos.
In a relaxed, but informative manner will get to know your camera in-depth, this Workshop includes; Comprehensive set-up, mastering the menus and controls, and one to one individual help with your camera.
This Workshop has a maximum of 6 students for a greater learning experience, and more one on one time with the Tutor.
This Getting to Know your Camera Workshop precedes the Introduction to Photography Course, which is offered every term through the College.

- Getting to know the control dials on your camera
- Taking a photograph properly
- To focus and recompose
- Using composition to take a photograph properly
- Different camera modes; Program, Manual, Aperture and Shutter speeds
- Apertures – Depth of Field explained
- Shutter speeds – speed of shutter opening and closing explained
- How to use your built-in flash properly
- Playing back your photograph(s)
- One to one individual help with your camera
Skill Level:
This Workshop is especially suitable for all levels of student; Novice / Beginner / Intermediate or anyone whom has just purchased any digital camera, or upgraded to another camera, or anyone who needs a refresher with their current camera, or to restart their Photography journey.

As seating is available and instructed by cafe staff, we can then sit down to buy our own tea / coffee / morning tea etc and continue with the Workshop. For the second half of the Workshop, we well then proceed depending on the weather to photograph along the Esplanade and North Cronulla Beach.
What to bring:
Camera Equipment:
Any adjustable digital camera;
A Digital compact camera / Advanced compact camera / Bridge camera / Superzoom camera
or
a digital interchangeable lens camera i.e;

Lenses;
Any Zoom lens(es) you have
18 – 55 mm , 18 – 135 mm , 16 – 35mm , 28 to 80 mm , 10 – 20mm , 40 – 150mm etc
and or any
A Prime lens(es) if you have them 20 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 85mm, 135mm etc
- A spare camera body if you have one
- Batterie(s) charged and ready x 2 if you have them
- Memory card(s) x 2 if you have them
Please note; An extra battery and memory card are strongly advisable as you will be using your camera, and reviewing your photographs frequently, during Workshop lessons and exercises.
Batteries
Ensure your battery/batteries are fully charged whether they are half full or not, as your camera will be on for the entire Workshop.
Memory card(s)
An extra memory card is strongly advisable, the Tutor will advise students, of what and how to purchase a second / extra high-quality memory card.
As a pre caution especially if you have not used your camera, please check that your camera is working; i.e. activating the shutter and lens focus / zoom barrel(s) etc.
What to wear:
Please make sure you bring weatherproof clothing, if wet weather is forecast
- Cool / wet weather warm clothing layers / jumper / rain jacket
- Warmer weather comfortable clothing, hat and sunglasses
- Mini umbrella only, no large umbrellas for safety reasons
Footwear:
- Closed in footwear for your safety, as we will be doing photography out in the open. Acceptable; closed walking / running shoes/ hiking boots with rubber soles (no thongs / sandals / high heels etc)
Additional items:
- Own food, snacks and water
- Note pad and pen
- Bug repellent / sunscreen
- A small towel for yourself /camera
- Money / cash for coffee / snacks / food /drinks
Personal preference
- A face mask is recommended especially for feedback
- Handkerchief, Tissues
- Alcohol-based hand sanitiser
- Antibacterial wipes Camera (LCD) screen cleaner*
Weather:
This Workshop will run in light rain, to allow participants to photograph in fine or wet weather. Unless it is high wind / extreme weather this Workshop will be postponed.
Special notes:
Please note;
General Photography is permitted, but; (close up photos of families / adults and especially identifying children under 18 years old, should not be taken or be published, unless a model waiver has been signed).
Expenses:
Coffee/drinks / food/dinner / snacks /etc, transport to and from and any other expenses are not included in the cost of this workshop.

"My name is Neoklis Bloukos and I have had a passion for photography since I was 14 years old. With over 50+ years of experience in Photography including; 9+ years as a Photography Tutor, and 20+ years of digital Photography and post processing. I am a Professional Photography Tutor, teaching all levels of Photography at SGSCC.
I am passionate about Photography and love to teach and share both classic and modern Photography techniques, and believe it is the most significant visual medium on this planet.
