This field trip has a maximum of 6 students for a greater learning experience, and more one on one time with the Tutor.
Skill Level:
This field trip is suitable for students who have a thorough working knowledge of their camera and controls, shutter and aperture settings and or have completed either a; Beginner’s Photography Course or similar, Basic DSLR / Digital Photography Course or similar.

There are many places, virtually the whole length of Anzac Parade, close to Bare Island.
Please note:
La Perouse Park
entry gate is closed to vehicles between
7pm and 5am all year
It is strongly advisable not to park in there.
If it is good weather, it gets very busy, allow at least an extra 20 minutes for parking.

Set up will be under Tutor supervision (non-trafficked areas for your safety and public safety)
A Tripod / Tripod plate and a cable / electronic release for your camera
The Tutor will bring an extra 3 tripods to share
Minipod / table top
If you wish to use a mini pod to do infrared / time exposures, you’ll need to put it on a bench or on a chair, you’ll not be able to put it on the ground, or in any heavily trafficked areas, as it is a public space, and safety is a primary concern.
What to bring:
Camera Equipment;
Any adjustable digital camera; DSLR / 4/3rds / Mirrorless with;
- RAW / JPEG image capability
- adjustable ISO/film speed settings
- with adjustable exposure settings; shutter, aperture, and manual exposure i.e. S or TV, A or AV, and M
- with manual/autofocus capability
- also if your camera has adjustable picture control / picture style settings i.e. monochrome standard, neutral, etc
Batterie(s) Fully charged and ready x 2 or 3.
Memory card(s) x 3 if you have them
A spare camera body /compact camera only if you have one
Compact cameras make for a great backup camera as you will have something with you, not only for an emergency but to extend your Photography possibilities.
LENS / LENSES
You need either;
At least one Zoom lens(es) with manual focus capability
18 – 55 mm , 18 – 135 mm , 16 – 35mm , 28 to 80 mm, 10 – 20mm , 40 – 150mm , 70 – 200 etc
and or
Prime lens(es) if you have any
if you have them i.e. 35 mm , 50 mm , 85mm, 105mm, 135mm , 200mm
and or
Any specialised lenses only if you have them
I.e
FISHEYE / ultra- wide angle
Super telephoto (for extreme compression)
Lens notes;
Any lens with a fast aperture of f1.4 / f1.8 / f2.0 / f2.8 / f4.0 etc is very useful for ‘bokeh’ out of focus background / foreground / shallow depth of field photographs for creative Macro Photography.

Filters
(strongly recommended)
A circular polarizer known as a CPL
Only if you have any of the following
3 x stop filter, 5 x stop filter,
10 x stop filter also known as an ND1000 (highly recommended)
15 x stop filter etc
Soft focus / diffusor filter
Near Infrared filter i.e HOYA R72NM (if you don’t have any filter above Neoklis will demonstrate, and share filters where possible)
If you do not have any filters, Please bring at least 1 extra blank SD card, for Nik’s set up with filter(s), which will be to share.
The Tutor will bring his entire filter set to share, including step up rings to adapt filter(s) where possible
What to wear:
Please dress sensibly to the weather conditions, make sure that you are prepared with any wet weather gear, and a mini umbrella only
No large umbrellas for safety purposes
Essential Footwear:
You will need proper footwear for this field trip, Please note; as it is extremely slippery around the rockpools, to participate you must wear enclosed footwear only, no open footwear i.e; sandals, high heels, open shoes, smooth soled shoes cannot be worn for this field trip.
For your safety acceptable footwear is as follows; Shoes / boots with grip / with rubber soles i.e; walking shoes, running shoes, bush walking shoes or hiking boots / weather-proof footwear / boots etc
Weather:
This field trip will run in light rain, to allow participants to photograph in fine or wet weather. Unless it is high wind / extreme weather this field trip will be postponed.

- a face mask recommended for feedback, Tissues, Handkerchief, Alcohol-based hand sanitiser should be at least 70 to 90 percent alcohol, Disposable gloves, Antibacterial wipes (camera), Camera (LCD) screen cleaner
PLEASE NOTE
- As usual children and families cannot be photographed without express permission first
- Otherwise, please be courteous and let anyone know you have photographed them, this is always best : )
- Transport to and from are in addition to the field trip fee; Drinks, foods, snacks, water, lunch etc are not included

With over 50+ years of experience in Photography including; 9+ years as a Photography Tutor, and 20+ years of digital Photography and post processing. I am now a Professional Photography Tutor, teaching all levels of Photography at SGSCC.

- To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
- All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled before the commencement and you will be informed.
