TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the minimum qualification required to work as a trainer/assessor in a structured training environment such as TAFE or a Private RTO. It is also suitable for individuals who provide on-the-job instruction in a workplace environment, (i.e. delivering one-on-one training to apprentices or coaching and mentoring other staff). Successful participants will also be qualified to conduct workplace assessments and skill audits.

Course entry requirements:

  • Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in their proposed training and assessing area. Vocational competence is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. You will need to provide proof of your vocational competency on enrolment, e.g. a copy of your qualification and transcript.
  • Unique Student Identifier (can be arranged through SGSCC)
  • Access to a computer, internet, and Facebook account (for private class communication and access to learning resources)
  • Effective language, literacy and numeracy skills to plan, research and write a range of documentation and present information. You are required to complete an SGSCC English language, literacy and numeracy assessment to determine that you have sufficient skills to successfully complete the course (ACSF Level 4).
  • Minimum 18 years of age

Do you need to complete any work placement hours?

  • No, this course offers a simulated learning environment with SGSCC

Will you need to sit for any exams?

  • No. This is a competency-based course

  • You will be required to competently complete assessment tasks for all 12 units of learning

Assessments are made up by a range of:

  • Demonstration

To be deemed competent:

  • You will receive clear assessment instructions
  • You must complete all assessments to a satisfactory standard as set by your trainer
  • These are assessed by your trainer
  • Opportunities will be provided for trainers to support students and to resubmit their assessments if required

When you have completed and been deemed competent you can:

  • Progress with SGSCC to the TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training
