Community Services Trainer
"Teaching in community services, I have an immediate and profound impact on the welfare of vulnerable people."
What did you do prior to joining SGSCC?
I am a renowned community connector, advocate for women, Asset Based Community Development advocate and leader in her local community.
At just 21 years old, I became a Manager of a Neighbourhood Centre. After working there for over 5 years and facilitating multiple community advocacy projects and conversations, I was recognised as the Local Woman of the Year 2016 for NSW.
I specialise in Asset Based Community Development and how to work in the community with this approach while addressing gender based violence. For the past 3 years, I have delivered training and workshops all around Australia, empowering communities to help those they work with to help themselves and see everyone has inherent dignity and worth.
What do you like best about working at SGSCC?
Teaching in community services, I have an immediate and profound impact on the welfare of vulnerable people.
Every single day I make a difference to the quality of people’s lives. My actions help those who are struggling the most to build better lives, and to give them hope for a brighter future.
I also help to build stronger, more inclusive communities. What an amazing career. Can you imagine the job satisfaction I get from that?!
What are you passionate about?
To be honest, there are many things that drive me. But if I were to pinpoint one common denominator for them all, it would be curiosity.
I always start with why. Why people do what they do. Why some things work and others don’t. A good question is the beginning of an inspiring journey to me. And it’s this journey that really pushes me forward. What I find fascinating is that along the way I can also explore the ways for me to have an impact. I learn how to make people around me better, and how I can be a better person.
